EYFS Updates

Our Journey to Kenya 🌍

Next week, our classroom will be full of excitement as we travel to Kenya in Africa through the beautiful story Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne.

The story tells us about Handa,'s journey while carrying a basket of bright, tasty fruits on her head to meet her friend, Akeyo. On her journey, some cheeky African animals sneak a fruit each, making the story fun, surprising and full of smiles.

We will be learning all about life in Kenya and will compare it to our life here in England. The children will explore animals, homes and landscapes, helping them to understand more about the world around them.

In literacy, we will look at British fruits and animals before creating our own exciting versions of Handa’s story. Our learning will come to life with lively African music and movement as well as creating beautiful, bright Maasai necklaces.

Finally on Friday we will be tasting the delicious fruits from Handa’s basket.

If you have any spare paper plates or dried penne pasta, we would be very grateful for donations to help with our creative activities.

Thank you so much for your support!
