Next week, we are taking a trip to India! 🌏

Our story focus will be Hello World, I am Deepu by Shalu Sharma.

This book follows a young boy, Deepu, as he shares his everyday life in India. Through his experiences, the children will be introduced to Indian culture, traditions and celebrations, encouraging curiosity and respect for cultural diversity.

We will explore the rich culture and religions found across India, looking at similarities and differences. The children will learn about Hindu celebrations by making diva lamps for Diwali and will even take part in our own Hindu wedding role play.

Through our exploration, we will create beautiful rangoli patterns and enjoy a sensory journey using spices commonly found in Indian cuisine to make colourful artwork.

We would greatly appreciate any donations of old powdered spices, as well as small colourful gems or buttons.

If you or your child have travelled to India, we would also love you to send in any artefacts or items to share with the children to further enrich their learning.
