Good afternoon,
As you are aware, during the first week back after half term the children will complete their official Phonics Screening Check, which assesses their reading and phonics skills.
This week, the children completed another practice paper. Please check your child’s school bag for their results sheet, which will show their most recent score. In previous years, the pass mark has been 32; however, this may change. To ensure children are working securely above the expected standard, we would ideally like to see scores of 34 or higher.
Regardless of your child’s current score, please continue to read regularly with them over the two-week break and practise using the resources provided as often as possible. The sheet also includes any sound gaps your child may still need support with, so please pay particular attention to these during your practice at home.
Any questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support.
