We have had a fantastic half term in school. The children have worked extremely hard and we are incredibly proud of them. They have shown great enthusiasm for their learning, demonstrated resilience when tasks have challenged them, and continued to develop their independence and confidence in the classroom. It has been wonderful to see their progress not only academically, but also in their teamwork, kindness towards one another, and positive attitudes to learning. They truly deserve a restful break after all their efforts.
Next half term, we are looking forward to an exciting range of new learning across the curriculum:
English
We will be reading Mrs Armitage on Wheels and the classic poem The Owl and the Pussycat. The children will be exploring storytelling, setting descriptions, and developing their creative writing skills.
Maths
Our focus will be on numbers to 100, ensuring children are confident with place value, ordering and comparing numbers. We will also begin learning about fractions, including ½ and ¼, and understanding them as equal parts of a whole.
History
We will be learning about the history of toys and exploring how toys have changed over time. The children will compare toys from the past with those they play with today.
Design and Technology
The children will be learning basic sewing skills and will design and make their own glove puppets. This will be a wonderful opportunity to develop fine motor skills and creativity.
RE
Our focus will be on Christianity, particularly the Easter story. We will also be welcoming a visitor who will teach the children about the Jewish celebration of Shabbat, building on our learning from this half term.
Science
We will continue our topic on Animals Including Humans, focusing on classifying, diet, senses, and body structure.
PSHE
We will be learning about caring for the environment, where money comes from and how it is spent, and discussing digital devices in the home and how to use them safely and responsibly.
Music
The children will be composing their own music and exploring how different sounds can be combined to create pieces.
On the first Monday back after half term, we will also be holding our TTRS (Times Tables Rock Stars) Day. Children are invited to come to school dressed as a rockstar and will take part in multiplication activities throughout the day. We are really looking forward to this fun and engaging event. Next half term we will also be celebrating World Book day on the 5th March. Children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.
