Year 1 Weekly Updates WB 02/02 - Parent Helpers needed.

Afternoon all,

Quick reminder for tomorrow 30/01: we have NightOwls visiting us in the morning to provide an owl display as part of our English provision, and our reading of 'Owl Babies.'

Here are the updates for the week commencing 2nd Feb (02/02/26)

Maths:

We have started learning about shape in Maths. The children will be looking at 3d shapes and their properties, including faces, edges and vertices. They will be asked to identify 2d shapes that they can see within the 3d shapes. Any opportunities around the house, such as asking the children what 3d shapes they can find or playing I spy with shapes, will embed this learning and support this new knowledge.

Geography:

We will be having a 'culture afternoon' on Friday (06/02) to support the pupils learning about Mwika, Africa. The children will be engaging with various different activities similar to the activities that the children in Mwika do at school. We are looking for 5 parent volunteers that can come in on Friday afternoon 1:00pm to help with bracelet making (1 per class), clay pot making (1 per class) and porridge making (1 volunteer.) If you are available please let us know via. the office.
