Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our DT project this term, the children will be designing and making their very own moon buggies—and we would love your help!
We are looking to collect a range of recyclable “bits and bobs” that would otherwise be thrown away. These will be used creatively by the children to build their models.
Useful items could include:
Cardboard (e.g. cereal boxes)
Kitchen roll tubes (please note: kitchen roll tubes only, not toilet roll tubes)
Small boxes or packaging (e.g. toothpaste boxes, parcel packaging)
Plastic containers (e.g. washed yoghurt pots, food trays)
Plastic milk bottle lids and bottle tops
Scrap cardboard or packaging materials
Small pieces of leftover tin foil (no need to send in new rolls—just any spare bits you may have)
Egg boxes
Clean plastic bottles (any size)
Paper cups
Cardboard tubes from foil/cling film
Bubble wrap or air pockets from parcels
Cardboard inserts from packaging
Small clean tubs (e.g. cream cheese, butter)
We completely understand that it may not be possible for everyone to contribute—there is no expectation at all. However, if you do have any items at home that you would otherwise recycle, we would be very grateful for any donations.
A quick note about how we’ll use these:
All items brought in will be added to a shared class collection, which the children will use together. This means there is no need to send in anything special or labelled for individual use. We kindly ask that you avoid sending in anything your child is particularly attached to, as everything will be shared amongst the class.
The children are wonderfully imaginative and will be able to turn even the simplest materials into something amazing!
Thank you so much for your support—we really appreciate it.
Best wishes,Miss Dee & Mrs Rees ✨
