Year 3 Friday Update
What a fantastic first full week we have had! The children have settled in brilliantly and we are so proud of how well they are adjusting to the new routines.
In science, we explored different types of rocks and had plenty of fun creating our edible rocks, which the children brought home this week. We have officially started reading our new class text, The Iron Man, which has already sparked great discussion. The children enjoyed their very first Spanish lesson and were eager to use the greetings we learned.
Our exciting Stone Age workshop takes place next Friday! Please refer to the letter sent home last week for full details. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed up for what promises to be an amazing, hands-on day. If you haven't already done so, please ensure payment is made as soon as possible.
All children have now received their individual Boom Reader log-ins. This is our online platform used to record all reading completed both at home and in school—please make sure to log every reading session. We ask that children read at home at least 4 times a week. Meeting this target earns them Star Reader status, 4 Dojo points, and an entry into our draw to win a book from the library vending machine!
This week, our focus is on words containing the 'ou' sound:
proud
found
trout
sprout
spout
around
ouch
hound
sound
mouth
Our spelling test will take place next Thursday morning instead of our usual Friday slot, due to the Stone Age workshop.
It's been lovely seeing the children coming into school looking incredibly smart! As a gentle reminder of our school policy, school shoes should be plain and not feature large logos or lights.
Now that the children are in KS2, daily fruit or vegetable snacks are no longer provided by the school. Please send your child in with a piece of fruit or vegetables for their morning break to help keep their energy and concentration up.
Our indoor wet play games are looking a little sparse this year. If you are clearing out any cupboards at home and have board games, card games, or complete puzzles you no longer need, we would be incredibly grateful for any donations!
Thank you so much for your continued support as we kick off a brilliant year. As always, please reach out if you have any questions!
