Year 3 Friday Update

Another week down, and the children have been working incredibly hard! It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm across all of our subjects, and they are settling into our classroom routines so nicely.

In Maths, we have been sharpening our multiplication skills, focusing on the 3, 4, and 8 times tables. Any quick practice at home with these will really help build their confidence as we keep building on these foundations. In English and Reading the children have been enjoying reading The Iron Man and are doing a fantastic job with their creative writing.

In Science, we built on our rocks unit by becoming paleontologists and creating our very own "fossils" using salt dough, which was a huge hit. We also had our school picture day this week, and the children looked very smart.

Please remember to keep logging all of your child's reading at home on Boom Reader so they can stay on track for their Star Reader status, Dojo points, and library vending machine raffle entries. A quick reminder that the books logged do not have to be school or library books—reading anything your child enjoys at home, whether it is a favorite story, comic, graphic novel, or non-fiction book, all counts toward their total.

Our spelling words for next week focus on the 'y' making an 'i' sound: system, synonym, gym, Egypt, myth, lyrics, symbol, pyramid, mystery, and gymnastics.

We would also like to gently remind parents that children should not be bringing personal toys into school, as they can easily get misplaced or broken during the day.
