Year 3 Friday update.

We can't believe we have already reached the end of our very first half term! It has been a fantastic few weeks, and we are so proud of how brilliantly the children have settled into Key Stage 2. They have embraced new routines with enthusiasm, independence, and great attitudes toward their learning.

đź—ż Stone Age Topic

Our Stone Age topic has been a huge hit across the entire year group. The children have loved diving into early history, asking brilliant questions, and learning about prehistoric life. The good news is that our journey through the Stone Age isn't over yet—we look forward to exploring even more of this topic after the break!

📚 Reading Stars

A massive well done to all of our Star Readers this week!

Reminder: Children earn 4 Dojos every time they log their reading on Boom Reader. It is wonderful to see so many of you reading regularly at home—keep up the fantastic effort!

🔢 Times Tables & Numbots

It is wonderful to see so many children practicing their times tables on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRs). Scores are improving every single week!

  • Current Focus: 2s, 5s, and 10s

  • Next Half Term Focus: We will be taking a detailed look at the 3 times table.

  • Building Speed: For anyone wanting to get quicker with their number bonds and basic addition/subtraction facts, Numbots is another fantastic platform to log into!

✏️ Half-Term Spelling Practice

This week, we have set a selection of Common Exception Words that we have noticed being misspelled across the year group. Please practice these at home ready for after the break:

  • with

  • said

  • because

  • which

  • where

  • when

  • went

  • also

  • people

  • would

Thank you as always for your continued support. We hope you all have a lovely, restful, and fun half-term break!

Warm wishes,

The Year 3 Team
