Year 3 Weekly Update
What a busy and productive week we’ve had in class! The children have worked remarkably hard across all subjects, and we are so proud of everything they have achieved. Here is a snapshot of what we’ve been up to this week and some important updates for the weeks ahead.
📖 English
Our young authors have officially finished publishing their Iron Man stories! Every child put so much effort into planning, writing, and editing their work. They ready to be beautifully displayed on our exciting writing walls.
🔢 Maths
In maths, we’ve been building our place value skills by adding and subtracting ones and multiples of 10 from 3-digit numbers (e.g., 342+40 or 589−6). The children are becoming much more confident in recognising which column changes and which stays the same.
🎨 Art
We took our drawing inspiration from history this week to create stunning sketches of Stonehenge. The children experimented with line, tone, and shading to capture the texture and scale of the ancient stones.
🤠 Wild West Day – Next Friday!
We are so excited for our Wild West Day next Friday! It promises to be a fantastic hands-on learning experience.
What to Wear: Children can come to school in old, comfortable clothes and trainers.
Weather Prep: We aim to be outside for most of the day, so please ensure your child brings a warm jumper and a waterproof coat.
💻 TTRS & Numbots
Over the last few weeks, all the children have been practising logging into Times Tables Rock Stars and Numbots.
Both platforms can be accessed at home via Google or by downloading the apps from the App Store.
Your child’s logins are the same for both platforms.
Regular practice at home for just a few minutes a day makes a huge difference in mental maths speed and confidence!
