Year 3 Weekly Update!
We’ve had another wonderfully busy and productive week in class! Here is a round-up of what we’ve been learning, along with a few key reminders for the coming weeks.
Learning Highlights This Week
Maths: We have wrapped up our unit on column addition, and the children have done exceptionally well! Their accuracy and confidence in setting out calculations correctly have really grown during this unit.
Science: We kicked off our new unit on Animals Including Humans. We started by looking at what makes a balanced diet, exploring the different food groups and why it’s so important to fuel our bodies with the right mix of nutrients.
Geography: We’ve officially launched our new topic exploring European countries. The children enjoyed identifying different countries on a map, capital cities, and key physical features across the continent.
Design & Technology: Research is officially underway for our upcoming cushion-making project! The children have been analysing different designs, materials, and features as they begin planning their own creations.
🚨 Parent Helpers Needed for DT!
To help bring our cushion designs to life, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist with sewing and assembly on Tuesday 10th December from 1:30 PM.
If you are free to lend a hand, please contact the school office to let them know. We would be hugely grateful for your support!
📝 Weekly Spellings
This week, our focus is on words using the prefix mis-:
misspell
misbehave
mislaid
misuse
mistrust
mistake
misunderstanding
mislead
misread
misplace
📌 End-of-Day Reminder
At hometime, the area around the door can get quite chaotic and crowded, making it a bit tricky for us to clearly see each adult. To help make dismissal as smooth and safe as possible, if you need to speak quickly with Miss Sealey or Mrs Towler, please step to one side of the door. This allows us to work together to ensure every child gets safely handed over to their adult. Thank you so much for your support and cooperation with this!
Have a wonderful weekend!
