Welcome back! We hope you all had a fantastic summer break. We're so excited to have the children back in the classroom, ready for a new term of learning and discovery.
This post includes some important information and a summary of what we will be learning this half term!
Zola's Happy Hearts and Minds Week
We understand that coming back after the summer can be a big transition. To help everyone settle back in after the break, this week we'll be taking part in Zola's Happy Hearts and Minds Week. This is a special week of fun activities designed to support your child's health and wellbeing. We'll be doing things to ensure your child feels happy and relaxed as they transition back into the school routine. It's a great way to reconnect with friends, find out about what can help us to learn, and get ready for the exciting term ahead.
What We'll Be Learning This Half Term
We've got an action-packed half term ahead of us with lots of exciting topics to explore!
English: We'll be reading the classic book 'Charlotte's Web'. Year 4 will be using their imagination to write detailed setting descriptions and even a persuasive letter.
Maths: Year 4 will begin by learning how to read and write Roman numerals, understand the value of digits in 4-digit numbers, and explore number patterns, including factors and fact families. We'll also be looking at positive and negative numbers.
Science: Get ready to investigate the states of matter! We'll be learning all about solids, liquids, and gases.
History: We'll travel back in time to explore the Roman occupation of Britain and debate whether it was a positive or negative experience for the native people.
Art: We will get creative and create amazing 3D sculptures.
PE: In physical education, we'll be focusing on gymnastics and ball skills.
RE: We'll be exploring the origins of religious beliefs, with a special focus on Christianity.
PSHE: We'll be learning about relationships and how to be a good friend.
Music: We'll be using music to create the sounds of a Roman battle scene.
Spanish: We'll be kicking off the term with some basic Spanish greetings and our 'Welcome to school! topic'
