Year 4 Weekly Update - 02.10.26
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy Friday! It’s been another full and exciting week of learning. Below, you’ll find a summary of what the children have been working on in class, as well as some key updates regarding home learning and next week's activities.
What We’ve Been Learning
English: The children absolutely amazed us with their first 'hot task' of the term! Next week, we are moving on to writing a persuasive letter to save Wilbur, where we will be exploring modal verbs, causal conjunctions, and persuasive language.
Maths: We wrapped up our work on rounding by rounding decimals to the nearest whole number. We've also been focusing heavily on the 3 and 4 times tables in school and are now moving on to the 8s.
Science: We’ve been investigating the water cycle and understanding how water moves through our environment!
Art: The children worked hard planning their Roman clay sculptures.
Music: We had great fun learning how to play simple Harry Potter-themed tunes on the glockenspiels!
PSHE: We explored what bullying means and discussed the clear differences between everyday conflict and bullying. We also talked about how both can impact our thoughts, feelings, and bodies.

Important Reminders & Home Learning
Art Prep (Old T-Shirts/Aprons Needed): Next week in Art, the children will be building their Roman clay sculptures on Friday. Please send your child into school with an old t-shirt or apron that can get messy, as we want to keep uniforms clean!
TTRS: Please continue encouraging your child to practice on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS). Finding different ways to learn times tables may also help such as chanting, rhymes, videos, making flashcards etc.
Reading Stars: A huge well done to all the children who read 4 or more times at home this week! Keep up the amazing effort.
Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you have a wonderful weekend!
