Dear Parents & Carers,

We have had a busy week in Year 4! The children have shown real resilience and determination. It has been so lovely to see how proud they are of their work!

Here is a look at what we’ve been up to across our subjects, along with some key updates for the week ahead.

A Look Back at Our Week

  • History: We stepped back into ancient Britain as historians to explore who the true Boudicca was, investigating primary clues and separating myth from historical fact.

  • English: We’ve been sharpening our persuasive techniques! The children played persuasive language games and worked hard on incorporating modal verbs and conjunctions into their writing.

  • Maths & Arithmetic: In Maths, we’ve been building our fluency by counting in steps of 25, 100, 6, 7, and 9. In Arithmetic, our focus has been on mastering the 8 times tables—please encourage your child to keep practising on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) at home!

  • Art: The children created their brilliant clay sculptures for their Roman busts!

  • Spanish: We explored vocabulary for days of the week, months of the year, and different rooms around the school.

  • PSHE: We had thoughtful discussions about the importance and benefits of kindness, exploring how both kind and unkind behaviors directly impact our thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

Next week is our final week before the half-term break! Here is what’s coming up:

  • Christmas Card Designs: We will be completing our official Christmas card designs next week. They will be sent home next Friday. (Please refer to the separate Wix post already published for all the details).

  • Pencil Case Replenishment: Children will bring their pencil cases home next Friday. It would be great for them to take some time over the half-term break to check, sharpen, and replenish their supplies so they are ready for the new term.

Spellings to be tested on Friday 16th October

Challenge Words

increase, women, believe, opposite, calendar, strength, interest, appear, straight, grammar

Upcoming Events & Dates for Your Diary

  • Wild West Day (Friday 27th November | 11:00 AM – 3pm): We are looking forward to our exciting Wild West experience day!

    • Parent Volunteers: If you are available and willing to help support us on this day, please let us know or inform the main school office.

    • A separate letter containing full details will be posted shortly—please keep an eye out for it!

Thank you for your ongoing support! We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
