Year 4 Weekly Update - 25.09.26
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic and busy week we have had in Year 4!
Highlights from This Week
Roman Experience Day: We had the most exciting day stepping back in time! The costumes were brilliant and truly set the scene - thank you for helping to make this day so special for the children. The children fully immersed themselves in the Roman era through a variety of hands-on activities.
Maths: We’ve been tackling rounding to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000 this week. It can be a tricky concept to master, but the children showed incredible perseverance using different strategies. It would be great to see if your child can teach you our rounding rhymes, show you how to use a number line, or demonstrate the "balloon technique" we’ve been practicing!
Reading Assessments: The children completed their first Year 4 reading assessment and absolutely amazed us with their abilities. Well done, Year 4! We will use these results to provide targeted support for all children and ensure everyone continues to be challenged at the right level.
English: We began writing our first "hot task"—a detailed setting description of the farm from Charlotte's Web.
Science: Ivy and Clover enjoyed an engaging experiment exploring the processes of heating and cooling.
RE: We were delighted to welcome the Reverend, who answered the children’s thoughtful questions about Christianity. It was wonderful to see them asking deep questions and making links between different religions. This is helping the children to answer the question 'Where do religious beliefs come from?'
Important Reminders
Harvest Collection: A quick reminder that our Harvest collection ends next Wednesday. If you are able to, please send in any final donations by then!
A reminder that no toys or cards are to be brought into school please. This is to ensure that valuable items do not get lost and to avoid distractions in school.
Spelling List
Our next spelling test will take place on Friday, 2nd October.
