Year 4 Weekly Update - 27.03.26

What a phenomenal way to wrap up the half-term! . Here is a look at what your explorers have been up to!

Tacos

Our classroom turned into a Mexican restaurant this week! Making tacos was an absolute highlight—it was wonderful to see the children get creative with their toppings and show such bravery in trying new flavours. To support our "business," we also designed eye-catching advertising posters to promote our delicious creations. A big thank you to all of the parent helpers who supported the children this morning!

English

In English, we have officially finished our diary entries from the perspective of an explorer. The children did a brilliant job describing the sights, sounds (and dangers!) of trekking through the jungle.

  • Looking Ahead: During our first week back, the children will tackle an unseen writing task. This is a great tool that helps us gauge their progress and tailor our future lessons to their specific needs.

Maths & Computing

  • Fractions & Decimals: We’ve been diving deep into the world of equivalence, learning how to bridge the gap between fractions and their decimal counterparts.

  • Scratch Coding: In Computing, our developers successfully built their own Snake games! It was fantastic to see their logic and problem-solving skills in action.

  • Times Tables: A massive "Well Done" for the scores on our new 132-sheet. The hard work is really paying off!

Quick Reminders

  • Pencil Replenishment: Some "tired" pencils are coming home to be replaced so we are sharp and ready for next term.

  • Half-Term "Homework": While we want the children to have fun and make memories, it would be great if we could keep the momentum going with:

    • TTRS (Times Tables Rock Stars). We have attached a sheet that the children can use to record their progress on this over half term to receive Dojos! We will also print one off for each child.

    • Reading

    • Production Practice: Keep learning those song lyrics!

Spelling

Spellings for this week are still 'Words that are adverbs of manner'.

curiously, furiously, reluctantly, gently, seriously, victoriously, courteously, generously, unexpectedly, quickly

These will be tested on Friday 17th April (the first week back after half term) as we had our DT morning making tacos!

The children have made so much progress this half term and we hope they have a well deserved break over half term! Thank you for your continued support as always. Happy Easter!
