Year 5 Weekly Update - 16/10/26
The children have continued to show incredible enthusiasm and dedication as we wrapped up a busy and productive first half term!
A huge thank you to everyone who offered to volunteer for our upcoming Wild West Day. Parents who offered to help will be contacted today via email to confirm details!
Here is a look at what we have been up to this week:
Parents Evening: It was lovely properly meeting you all this week! We hope you found the updates helpful.
Christmas Designs: The children will be coming home with their Christmas artwork designs today. If you would like to place an order, please complete the form and return it to school after the half-term break.
English: The children have now completed their 'hot tasks', and we have been thoroughly impressed by the effort put into their information texts on creatures of legend.
Science & PSHE: We concluded our exciting unit on Space in Science. In PSHE, we held thoughtful discussions exploring stereotypes and the impact they can have on people.
RE: The children tackled a big question this week: "Is believing in God reasonable?" They drafted balanced arguments considering both theist and humanist perspectives, producing some truly insightful ideas!
Looking Ahead: After Half Term
Wednesday: Miss Jackson’s early morning arithmetic group begins for selected pupils at 8:00 AM. We are also hosting an Open Evening for prospective new Reception families.
Thursday: Wild West Day! Please refer to the letter in our previous post regarding costume ideas and key details. (A big thank you again to our confirmed parent helpers!)
Friday: PE, Miss Jackson will be away in London fulfilling her duties as Reading Lead. Mrs Carter will be covering Hazel Class for the full day.

Thank you for all your support throughout this first half term. Have a wonderful, restful break with some well-deserved family time!
