Year 5 Weekly Update - 6/11/26
Welcome back! It has been a fantastic first week back after the half-term break, filled with so much excitement as the children dived straight into their new learning!
English: We began our exciting new text, Riddle of the Runes: A Viking Mystery Story. The children kicked off the unit with some brilliant performance poetry before writing and performing their very own poems.
Maths: In Maths, we have been exploring formal written methods for addition and subtraction, building on our place value knowledge.
History: In our new History topic, we learned about Viking and Anglo-Saxon beliefs—specifically exploring their views on the afterlife and making insightful comparisons between the two cultures.
Open Evening: On Wednesday, we hosted our annual Open Evening for prospective families. We were immensely proud of the children who stayed to help out; they did an incredible job showcasing our wonderful school!
Wild West Day: Our Wild West Day was a huge hit! The children had a fantastic time getting messy with our 'I'm a Celebrity...' themed activities. A massive thank you to our wonderful parent helpers for all their support in making the day so special and memorable.
