Year 6 Weekly Review (wb. 1/9/25)

WOW! What an awesome 1st week in Year 6 we have had! Mr Wade and I have been blown away by the immense effort, eloquence and enthusiasm we have seen from the children in our classes this week! If this is a sign of things to come, it is going to be an exceptional year! Below are some key events from the week as well as some information about the week ahead! Journals

This week, we have been starting the year with our Happy Hearts & Minds Week. We have completed 9 brilliant sessions where the children have reflected on themselves as learners and thought about all the things they need in order to feel happy, to do their best and achieve their goals. They have completed their work in a journal which they are bringing home in their bag this evening. It would be great for you to have a look through these with your children and discuss some of their learning from the week. Homework

Your child has also come home with a letter for SATs Companion. We have uploaded assignments on here to be completed by next Friday. Please have a go at logging in to the software and navigating it. Any issues/teething problems, let us know. We have also set weekly spellings which will be tested next Friday; these are as follows:

1) oxygen

2) rhythm

3) symptom

4) system

5) typical

6) symbol

7) crystal

8) mystery

9) antonym

10) lyrics

Orientation

Thank you to all the parents that attended Mr Wade's Year 6 Orientation meeting this morning. For those who couldn't, the slides from the session will be being sent out soon. Westerings Careers On Google Classrooms, applications are still open for the various responsibilities here at Westerings. It would be great to see lots of our Year 6's taking on these responsibilities - they are great preparation for Secondary School!

A final well done to all of the children for a superb first week - we can't wait to see you for the next one! Mr Bird & Mr Wade
