Mock SATs Week
Next week if our first mock SATs week, a perhaps daunting but crucial week to get a milestone for future progress. Children have been spoken to at length about what the week entails, and what to expect, but below is the timetable of tests:
Monday: Spelling paper, Grammar & Punctuation paper
Tuesday: Reading paper
Wednesday: Maths paper 1 - arithmetic, Maths paper 2 - Reasoning
Thursday: Maths paper 3 - Reasoning
This closely mimics the real week, with tests generally being completed each day before break time - the rest of the day is then usual lessons. Friday there are no tests, exactly the same as real SATs week.
For further details on the papers, pointers and explanations, please see Mr Wade's parent orientation slides sent out in September.
Homework
As ever, homework has been set for the week. Homework will also be set next Friday, but not due until the first Friday back - hence it is not so much 'setting homework over the holidays' as opposed to the usual 'you have a normal school week to complete it'. Hope that makes sense! Children are of course welcome to complete their tasks over the holidays, but there is no need to.
Wishing you a pleasant weekend,
The Year 6 Team
