WILD WEST:

We are still looking for parent helpers to support during Wild West on Friday 19th (AM) If you are available and would like to help, this would be greatly appreciated. Please drop the office an email letting them know.

Our learning for this half term:

English -

Our stories this half-term include The Bear and The Piano by David Litchfield and Tiddler by Julia Donaldson. We will be looking at songwriting including the literary devices of rhyme and repetition, as well as writing a repeated narrative.

Maths-

We have started exploring measurement of length and height. We will be looking at measuring using centimetres and metres. Later on we will be looking at weight and mass.

Science-

Our focus this half-term is about different parts of the plant and different types of trees.

Geography-

We are focused on learning about the geographical makeup of the United Kingdom including England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Island. By the end the children will know the flags, capital cities, populations and human physical features.

RSHE/PSHE-

We will be looking at respectful relationships, mental well-being, understanding our differences and identifying/naming the basic parts of the human body. Please see our policy on what we are required to teach on the school website to have a better understanding of these topics, if you wish.

Art-

We are studying the artist Henry Matisse and will have an end project of making an under the sea themed collage.

Many thanks,

The Year 1 Team.
