EYFS Messages

Next week we will be learning all about Australia.

Our story focus will be Fluffles by Vita Murrow. This is a lovely story about a brave koala bear, and it will help us explore themes of courage and adventure. Alongside this, we will be learning about different types of weather and comparing animals in Australia with those found in the UK.

To support our learning, we are on the hunt for:

  • Old newspapers for an art project

  • Any Australian artefacts, such as cork hats/boomerangs

  • Cuddly Australian animals (we promise to take very good care of them!)

  • Photos from a holiday to Australia, or anything similar

We would be extremely grateful for anything you are able to share.

Maths

In maths, our focus will be on coin recognition. If you have any spare coins (values from 1p to £1), these would greatly enhance our role-play activities. We will be setting up a shop, and we would love the children to use real coins during their play.

Art & Geography

We will also be learning about some famous Australian landmarks and using our artistic talents to create our own pictures inspired by them.

National Storytelling Week

Next week is also National Storytelling Week! We will be celebrating with a teacher swap at story time:

  • Mrs Towler from Year 3 will be coming down to read Acorns a story

  • Mr Wade will be visiting to read to Conkers

If any parents or grandparents would like to come in and read a story to the children at the end of the day, we would love to welcome you. This would be at 2:50pm. Please email the school office to let us know if you are available.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are really looking forward to a fun and busy week ahead!
