Rainbow Reader – Important Clarification for Parents

We would like to clarify how Rainbow Reader will work going forward.

At the moment, children receive Rainbow Reader for reading four books. However, we have noticed that some children are completing all four books within one or two days and then not reading again for the rest of the week.

To help encourage regular reading practise, we will now be counting the number of days your child reads (based on the dates written in their reading record) rather than the number of books completed. Our aim is for children to read on four separate days each week, as regular practise leads to greater progress and confidence.

For example, if your child chooses to read both books and practise their sounds on the same day, this will count as one reading day.

If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child develop their reading skills.
