EYFS Messages
What a fantastic (and spooky!) first week back after half term! 👻
The children have had a brilliant week enjoying our story Ready, Steady, Ghost and taking part in lots of activities linked to being brave and facing our fears. It has been lovely to see them getting involved and sharing their ideas!
Next week…
Our story focus will be A Fox in the Dark by Alison Green and Deborah Allwright. The story follows a little rabbit who finds himself being chased by a fox through the dark woods! As the chase unfolds, there are lots of twists, turns and surprises, making it a fun story to explore together. We will be using the story to encourage the children to talk about woodland animals, the dark and light, and how animals behave in their natural habitats.
Our activities will all have an autumn theme. We are hoping to set up a fruit and vegetable shop in our outside area and would really appreciate your help! If each child could bring in one piece of fruit or one vegetable, that would be amazing and will help us bring our shop to life.
We are also on the lookout for:
Red and green bottle tops
Kitchen sponges
More sticks for our animal den-building activities
Parent Helpers – Reading
Now that the children are settled into school life and have become familiar with our routines, we would love to start welcoming parents into school on a daily basis to support with reading.
If you have requested a DBS through the school office because you would like to help regularly, please could you let your child's class teacher know your availability? This will allow us to put a timetable in place and organise regular reading sessions.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for helping to make our learning experiences so enjoyable. Have a lovely weekend! 😊
Phonics videos
Sorry for the delay in sending these out this week! Here are this week's videos, along with the final two videos for next week.
From Wednesday to Friday, we will be carrying out another phonics assessment, as all of the individual sounds will now have been taught. Following the assessments, we will begin grouping the children according to their current phonics knowledge. This will allow us to provide more targeted support and help those children who may be finding it trickier to recognise and remember their sounds as well as providing further challenge for those who are ready to move on and are working above expectations.
