Next week, we are excited to celebrate Chinese New Year with the children! It’s going to be a fantastic week filled with music, Chinese arts and crafts, and learning about this vibrant celebration and traditions.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s happening:

  • Chinese Restaurant Setup: We’ll be creating a pretend Chinese restaurant and would greatly appreciate any of the following items:

    • Chopsticks

    • Old (but clean) takeaway containers

    • Noodles, red rice

    • Chinese menus

    • Chinese New Year decorations

If you can spare any of these items, please send them in with your child.

  • Maths Activity: We’ll need 1p and 2p coins for a fun activity on Thursday. If you have any spare coins lurking around, please send them in too!

  • Chinese Drums: On Wednesday 29th in the afternoon, we’ll be making Chinese drums. If you’re available to lend a hand, please let the office know—we’d love your help!

  • Friday 31st Jan-Parade & Food Tasting: On Friday afternoon, we’ll be tasting Chinese food and participating in a Chinese parade around the school. Extra support is always welcome, so if you’re free, please let us know! (photos of all ingredients will be shared on dojo. Please let us know if your child cannot participate in this due to allergies) For the parade, we kindly ask that the children dress in red or orange or a Chinese-inspired outfit to celebrate the occasion. As a reminder, we also have a special visit from an athlete on the same day (details below), and the rest of the school will be dressed in sports clothes. To balance both events, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for sports, as we will also still have PE in the morning.

Special Event: Friday, January 31st

We’re thrilled to have Joe Hart, a professional basketball player, visiting us to share his experiences as an athlete. The day will include:

Thank you for your continued support in making these experiences memorable for the children. We can’t wait to share this exciting week with them!
