EYFS Updates

Nest week, our story focus this week is The Bad-Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle – a wonderful book that helps children explore the theme of emotions in a fun and meaningful way.

Throughout the week, we’ll be using the story as a starting point to talk about different feelings, how to recognise them, and how to express them in healthy ways. We’ll also be getting hands-on with some exciting activities, including:

  • Going on bug hunts around our outdoor area,

  • Learning about a variety of mini beasts and their habitats,

  • Creating our own ladybirds on stones to decorate our classroom.

VE day Celebrations

We are excited to let you know that next Thursday afternoon we will be holding a VE Day Street Party with the children!

This special event is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) – an important moment in history that marked the end of World War II in Europe. It’s a chance to reflect on the significance of peace, community spirit, and gratitude for the sacrifices made by others.

To help us recreate the street party atmosphere, we kindly ask that each child bring:

  • A small blanket (or one to share with a friend),

  • One item of food to contribute to our shared party (e.g. cakes, crisps, chopped veggies, sausage rolls, chicken bites, etc.- Please no food containing nuts)

If you happen to have any bunting, Union Jack flags, or tablecloths we can use to decorate, we would be very grateful for any contributions!

Thank you for your continued support – we’re looking forward to a fun and meaningful afternoon together.

Warm regards,

EYFS Team
