📅 (Year 2) Friday 20th March – Important Information for Poppies & Violets

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Friday 20th March, we have several exciting events happening across the day. We want to make sure everything runs smoothly and that all children have what they need. We appreciate that there is quite a lot happening at once and thank you for your support with this.

🌟 What’s happening on Friday:

  • Southend Football Club Penalty Shootout (charity event)

  • 🔴 Red Nose Day

  • 🎶 Infant Music Festival (for selected children)

  • 🧵 Sewing Afternoon (tie-dye t-shirts for our Alice in Wonderland tea party)

🎶 Children attending the Infant Music Festival:

(You will already have received a letter if this applies to your child.)

  • Come to school in full school uniform

  • Bring a change of shoes (e.g. trainers) for the penalty shootout

  • Optional: bring a change of clothes (e.g. Red Nose Day outfit) to change into after returning

🔴 Children NOT attending the Music Festival:

  • Come to school in Red Nose Day clothing/outfit of your choice

  • Bring a change of shoes (e.g. trainers) for the penalty shootout

👟 VERY IMPORTANT – Footwear (for ALL children):

Please read this carefully as it is really important for the day to run smoothly:

  • Children must NOT come to school wearing football boots as their main footwear

  • Football boots/trainers should be brought as a change of shoes only

Why this matters:During the penalty shootout, shoes are very likely to get muddy and wet. If children are already wearing football boots:

  • They will then be in muddy footwear for the rest of the school day

  • This leads to mud being walked through classrooms and corridors

  • It also means children are uncomfortable and unable to change into clean shoes

To avoid this, we need all children to:

  • Wear normal, clean footwear to school

  • Bring their sports shoes/boots separately

🛍️ Plastic bag needed:

Every child must bring a named plastic bag so muddy shoes can be safely stored in lockers without getting other belongings dirty.

🧵 Sewing Morning Wednesday 18th March - 8:40 - 12:00 (ish!)– Thank You

We would also like to say a big thank you to the parents and carers who have kindly offered to help with our sewing morning Your support is hugely appreciated and helps make these experiences so special for the children.

There is nothing additional for children to bring in or prepare for this—everything will be provided in school. Your child will simply enjoy a lovely morning sewing pockets onto their tie-dye t-shirts in readiness for our Alice in Wonderland tea party. ✨

We know this is a lot of information, but it will make a big difference to helping the day run smoothly for everyone. Thank you so much for your support—we are really looking forward to a fun and memorable day!

Kind regards,The Year 2 Team ✨
