Heatwave - update

⬆️ Every Little Helps!

☀️ Hot Weather Update – Tuesday & Wednesday ☀️

With hot temperatures forecast over the next couple of days, we wanted to reassure families that plans are in place to help pupils remain comfortable and continue enjoying their learning.

While these temperatures are infrequently seen in the UK, periods of hot weather are becoming an increasingly familiar part of life in our country. As always, our focus is on helping children learn how to manage these conditions safely, sensibly and confidently.

To support this, we will be:

🍦 Providing all pupils with a cooling ice pole on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

💧 Ensuring regular access to pupils’ water bottles throughout the day.

👕 Allowing pupils to attend in PE kits for the remainder of the week.

🏃 Adapting PE lessons to minimise exertion and relocating to cooler areas (avoiding spending time in unshaded areas).

🌳 Encouraging pupils to enjoy shaded areas beneath our tree canopy at lunchtime, or cool off under the mist sprays of The Riviera. Middays have water sprays and other “cooling activities(!)” for lunchtimes. 💧

📚 Keeping classrooms as cool as possible with fans and making use of air-conditioned and cooler learning spaces, including our library, where appropriate.

🚌 School trip risk assessments have been reviewed and adapted, and approved by the EVC and headteacher.

Please continue to send children with a filled water bottle and ensure sun cream is applied before school if required.

As always, we will keep conditions under review, but we are looking forward to another enjoyable and productive series of lessons at Westerings over the coming days.
