What a week!

Hello everyone!
What a brilliant week we’ve had in Year 2 — the classroom has been buzzing with busy brains and big smiles.
In Maths, we’ve been tackling place value and partitioning. The children have loved being number detectives, cracking codes by splitting numbers into tens and ones. There have been so many proud “lightbulb moments” — We wish you could have seen their faces when everything clicked!
In Literacy, we’ve been stretching our sentences with conjunctions like because, but, so, and and. Suddenly our writing has gone from little seeds to whole blossoming ideas.
In Science, our curious scientists have been hands-on exploring materials. We’ve been sorting, describing, and debating why a spoon shouldn’t be made of chocolate (although some of us wouldn’t mind giving it a try!). The children are asking fantastic questions and noticing details like true scientists.
We are so proud of how hard Year 2 have worked this week — their energy and enthusiasm make the classroom such a joyful place. Thank you, as always, for all your support at home.
The Battle of Hastings:
The rainfall destroyed our battlefield on Monday so we will be having another try tomorrow. Keep everything crossed for sunny weather.... or at least, dry weather!
Hedingham castle trip:
If you haven't already, please return all required consent / payment for the upcoming trip. We are so grateful for the offers to help, but we would love a couple more volunteers to get our numbers up. So please send an email via 'contact us' if you would be available all day on Wednesday 1st October.
Miss Dee and Mrs Rees✨
