A huge thank you to all our Poppies and Violets families for your continued support this week and as we begin the new half term. The children have come back settled, positive and ready to learn, which makes such a difference—so thank you!
🧥 Changeable Weather Reminder
Although the weather is starting to brighten up, it is still very changeable at this time of year.
Please ensure your child brings a jumper and coat to school every day.
Even if it looks sunny in the morning, it can quickly turn cooler or rainy later on.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone comfortable and ready for outdoor learning.
📚 English – The Sword in the Stone
We have loved diving back into our reading lessons, particularly exploring The Sword in the Stone!
The children are building up to writing a character description of Arthur.
Along the way, we have been practising a range of grammar skills to support their writing.
It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm for the story and their growing confidence.
➗ Maths – Fractions
In Maths, we have continued our work on fractions:
So far, we have focused on finding half of objects and amounts.
Next, we will be moving on to three quarters.
The children are showing a really secure understanding, and we are very proud of their effort and progress.
🌱 Science – Plant Investigations
The children have now written up their plant investigations—well done to them all!
They acted as mini scientists, observing and recording changes carefully.
We explored how different plants (including gladioli bulbs, bean seeds and sunflower seeds) grow in different conditions.
This included comparing plants grown with and without sunlight and water.
The children should be really proud of the thoughtful conclusions they drew.
➕ Miss D’s Maths Club (Summer 1 Group)
A reminder for those who signed up for the after-school arithmetic club:
If your child has not yet attended, it is now their turn.
From next week onwards, all Summer 1 children should be attending.
If you have already spoken to Miss D, that’s absolutely fine—but otherwise, please ensure your child comes along.
🧦 Lost Property & Labelling
We are seeing a lot of lost property at the moment:
Many items (especially jumpers) do not have names.
Please label all belongings, including jumpers, coats, water bottles and lunchboxes.
This helps us return items quickly to their rightful owners.
Thank you again for your ongoing support—it really does make a difference to the children’s learning and wellbeing. We’re looking forward to another fantastic half term! 🌟
