Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another busy and joyful week in Year 2!
Firstly, a huge thank you to the parents who came in to help with our tie-dye afternoon. The children absolutely loved it and it made the afternoon run so smoothly. The t-shirts are looking fantastic already and we are very excited to see the finished creations.
A quick reminder for those who have kindly signed up to help with our sewing afternoon—we are really looking forward to having you in school. The children are very excited to start adding their pockets and designs to their shirts.
Our Alice in Wonderland Tea Party will be taking place at the end of the half term. We will be inviting families in to join us and we will need a little help with bringing in some tea-party style food. More details will follow soon, but thank you in advance for helping us make this a magical celebration.
📚 Learning This Week
The children have been working incredibly hard.
Maths
We have been learning about money, counting up different amounts and finding totals using different combinations of coins.
English
The children have been writing beautiful setting descriptions inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Their imaginations have really come alive and we have seen some wonderfully creative ideas and vocabulary.
Geography
We have been learning about Shanghai and London, comparing the two cities and thinking about what makes them similar and different.
📖 World Book Day
The World Book Day costumes were absolutely fantastic—the effort that went into them was amazing and the children looked wonderful. Thank you for helping make the day so special.
➕ Miss Dee’s Maths Club
Well done to the children who attended Miss Dee’s Maths Club in the first round. They worked incredibly hard and hopefully had a little bit of fun along the way too!
This first round has now finished.
The second round of children will begin on Monday 23rd March (not next Monday as this is Parents’ Evening). The club will continue for several weeks, including a few weeks after the Easter break, so that the children have plenty of time to benefit from the sessions.
🧥 Clothing Reminder
Although the sun is beginning to shine, some days are still quite cool, so please make sure children bring coats or jumpers in case the weather changes.
Please also label all items clearly—jumpers, coats, water bottles and lunchboxes—as we are still receiving quite a lot of unnamed lost property.
🎵 Infant Music Festival
Thank you to all the parents who have paid for the coach to the Infant Music Festival.
Just a reminder:
Thursday 20th March – Infant Music Festival (for children who received invitation letters)
Thursday 26th March – Year 2 Music Showcase where the whole year group will perform the songs they have been learning
We are very proud of how hard the children have been practising and we are looking forward to sharing their singing with you.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm wishes,The Year 2 Team 🌼
