Here is a look at what we've been learning this week and what's coming up next!
📝
Spelling Test: Please note that this week's spelling test on Friday, October 17th, will consist of Challenge Words. These are the words that your child will be working hard to learn:
increase
women
believe
opposite
calendar
strength
interest
appear
straight
grammar
On a Monday during our spelling sessions, we work through each word to discuss it's meaning and complete a range of activities based on their spelling pattern or rule.
Times Tables: We have been focusing on the 8 times table this week. Next week, we will be completing some practice Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) sessions to help the children become more familiar with the format! The children have amazed us with their times table knoweldge so far and we know they will continue to show us how brilliant they are!
🍎 What We've Been Learning
English: The children have worked incredibly hard on their unseen writing task this week, focusing on writing their very own mystery story! They've shown great imagination and attention to detail.
Maths: We focused on rounding to the nearest 1000. Next week, we will be moving on to exploring Roman numerals.
Art: We are in the planning stages of our new project! The children have been planning their sculptures, choosing a Roman Emperor and deciding on the key features they would like to include.
PSHE: We had important, engaging discussions about personal space and boundaries, focusing on how to respect ourselves and others in different situations.
History: We continued our dive into the past, looking at the dramatic and often unexpected invasion attempts that have shaped our nation's history.
Next week - Reminders
Thursday - We will be creating our Roman Emperor clay sculptures. Please could the children bring in an oversized old t-shirt to go over their uniform for Art.
As always, thank you for your continued support at home. Please encourage your child to practice their spelling and times tables.
Have a great weekend!
