Year 4 Weekly Update - 13.03.26

English: Bringing History to Life

We have officially crossed the finish line with our biographies! The classroom has been buzzing with the life stories of some truly remarkable individuals. Whether your child chose the aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, the fearless naturalist Steve Backshall, or the mysterious explorer Percy Fawcett, they’ve done a fantastic job of capturing their legacies with flair and factual accuracy.

Maths: Pounds, Pence, and Portions

This week, we turned our focus to the practical side of mathematics: multiplying and dividing with money.

  • We practiced scaling up recipes and budgets using multiplication.

  • We have also tacked the challenge of using division to solve problems with money!

  • Challenge for both classes: Ask your child to help calculate the total or change next time you’re at the shops—they are becoming real pros!

Science: Our Changing World

In Science, we’ve been investigating environmental changes. We discussed how both natural shifts and human activity can impact habitats. The children showed great empathy and insight while exploring how we can protect the world around us for future generations.

Computing & Creativity

  • Coding & Programming: We continued to sharpen our logical thinking skills, debugging scripts and building complex sequences in our latest projects.

  • Production Rehearsals: The halls are alive with music! We’ve been rehearsing our production songs, and the energy is fantastic. We can’t wait for you to see the final result. next term!

Focus of the Week: Presentation

Beyond what we learn, we’ve been focusing on how we present it. We’ve been challenging ourselves to take extra pride in our work—focusing on neat handwriting and clear layouts. The improvement in the "look" of our books this week has been brilliant to see!
