Year 4 Weekly Update - 15.05.26

Another great week in Year 4, the children have been working incredibly hard in all areas of the curriculum!

Spellings - Words containing 'phon' or 'sign'

To be tested on 22.05.26

megaphone, microphone, sign, phonics, homophone, telephone, design, signal, signature, assign

Maths: We have been mastering short division using the "bus stop" method.

Times Tables (MTC Prep): This week, we have been sitting 1:1 with each child for a practice session. This is to ensure they are fully comfortable with the layout and interface for the official Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) coming up after half term. We have seen some great focus so far, and the remaining children will complete their 1:1 sessions next week.

English: We’ve been fact-finding and recording voice messages for Ahmet from The Boy at the Back of the Class. We focused on our oracy skills—specifically pace, tone, and volume—to make him feel welcome.

Art: We are finalising our Batik designs this week, getting them ready for the printing process next week.

Spanish: The children have been practicing their role-play skills, acting out "a visit to the doctors."

Important Reminders

  • Food and Farming Trip: If you haven’t already done so, please ensure payment is made via the school app as soon as possible.

  • Boom Reader: Please continue to log all home reading. It is a vital tool for tracking progress and celebrating the children's reading milestones.

Well done for another great week Year 4!
