📚 Curriculum Highlights

English

We have started to explore our new book... 'The Boy at the Back of the Class'! We have been looking at how we can make people feel welcome in preparation for our story in a few weeks time.

Maths

Our focus has been on fractions. Specifically, the children have been learning how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.

Science

We’ve been travelling back in time to look at the life and inventions of Thomas Edison. The children have been fascinated by his persistence in developing the incandescent light bulb!

✍️ Focus of the Week: Presentation

We are placing a big emphasis on presentation right now. We’re encouraging the children to take extra pride in their handwriting and overall layout of their work across all subjects.

🏆 Shout-outs & Rewards

A huge well done to all the children who kept up with their Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) over the half-term break! It’s great to see that enthusiasm! Dojos will be awarded this week to all of our holiday rockers.

RSHE lessons - Summer term

In the coming weeks, we will be teaching our 2 RSHE lessons, which focus on the theme of "Changes," specifically exploring the transition from childhood to adulthood. We believe that providing children with clear, age-appropriate, and factual information helps them feel prepared, confident, and supported as they grow.

Our Learning Objectives

During this unit, the children will explore the following key concepts:

• The Human Lifecycle: Understanding that puberty is a natural and vital stage in human development.

• Physical Changes: Identifying the various ways the body changes during puberty.

• Emotional Wellbeing: Discussing the emotional shifts and feelings that can occur during this time.

• The Purpose of Change: Understanding that these biological developments are the process by which children mature into adults.
