Year 4 Weekly Update - 30.01.26

It has been an action-packed week of discovery and hard work! We are incredibly proud of the progress the children are making across all subjects.

English: Deep in the Rainforest

We’ve launched our new narrative unit based on the book The Explorer. The children have been transported to ‘The Hidden City,’ imagining what it’s like to stumble upon mysterious ruins deep within the rainforest.

  • The Big Question: Is this city magical, dangerous, or ancient?

  • The Goal: We are focusing on descriptive language to bring these hidden settings to life.

Maths: Mastering Division

We’ve been tackling the "bus stop" method for division. The children have shown great resilience when working with 2-digit numbers divided by 1-digit numbers, specifically learning how to handle remainders.

Spanish & PE

  • Spanish: We’ve begun learning nouns for different family members. Ask your child if they can teach you how to say "mother," "father," "brother" or "sister " at home!

  • PE: Creativity has been high as we’ve been choreographing our own dance routines. It’s been wonderful to see their teamwork and rhythm in action.

MTC Mocks

A huge well done to everyone for their efforts in the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) mocks! We are seeing scores rise every week, and the speed on the "soundcheck" games is becoming truly impressive. Keep up that practice!

Looking Ahead: National Storytelling Week

Next week is a special one! One way of celebrating this week and the magic of stories is take part in a class swap:

  • Miss Stryczek will be heading over to read to Clover Class.

  • Miss Sealy will be visiting Ivy Class to share one of her favourite stories.
