Year 5 Weekly Blog wb. 13th April 2026

Our Learning This Week

  • Mathematics: On Monday, we completed our half-termly arithmetic paper. This was a fantastic way for the children to demonstrate their progress and fluency with number work over the last few weeks.

  • Reading: On Tuesday, the children tackled the remainder of a SATS reading paper that we originally started at the beginning of the year. It was wonderful to see how much their confidence and comprehension skills have grown since they first saw these texts!

  • PE: Yesterday, a group of children visited Greensward to compete in a basketball and football tournament. Both Mr. Bird and I were incredibly impressed with their teamwork and how brilliantly they represented the school - well done to everyone involved!

Reminders for Tomorrow: Colchester Zoo!

We are all looking forward to our trip tomorrow! Please note the following important details:

  • Arrival & Meeting Point: Children must wait at the Sunny Road gate for Mrs. Woods to collect them. Please do not go to the school office in the morning.

  • Footwear & Clothing: Pupils should wear full school uniform with trainers. Please pack a raincoat in their bags just in case of showers.

  • Lunch: Please provide a packed lunch in a carrier bag that can be thrown away.

  • Pocket Money: Children may bring a maximum of £10 for the gift shop. They are responsible for looking after their own money and any purchases made.

  • Medication: Please ensure any necessary medication is handed directly to Mrs. Woods in the morning.

  • Timings: We aim to be back for 3:30 PM. Please keep an eye on Dojo and the blog for any updates throughout the day.

  • Tuesday: Tudor Workshop (All Day). Please ensure all payments and permissions have been completed via Arbor.
