Year 5 Weekly Blog wb. 20th April 2026

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday and enjoyed a restful break! It has been wonderful to see the children return with such enthusiasm, ready for a busy and exciting summer term.

Our Learning This Week

  • Tudor Workshop: We had a really exciting day yesterday! The children took a step back in time to explore the 16th century. We spent the day learning all about the formidable Henry VIII and his six wives, and even mapped out the complex Tudor family tree. The children showcased their grace during Tudor dancing and their strength while looking at weaponry and armour. We even tried our hand at archery - it was fantastic to see such focus and historical curiosity!

  • Payments: If you haven't already, please ensure all payments for this experience day have been made via Arbor.

Reminders for This Week

  • Learning Plan Meetings: A reminder to please ensure you attend the scheduled meetings taking place this week (selected parents only). We look forward to discussing your child's progress with you.

Looking Ahead: Next Week

  • Monday: We have our Parent Pop-in and a Pre-loved Uniform Sale. After school, the Westerings vs. Hockley football match will take place for selected children - good luck to the team!

  • Wednesday: Morning Interventions for selected children in Hazel Class.

    • PE Day: Please ensure children are wearing the correct kits. A reminder that leggings or "skins" are not part of the school PE uniform.

    • Cross Country: Taking place after school at Westerings.
