Following our deep dive into Peter Bunzl’s Cogheart, the children have turned into master inventors. We are currently busy drafting our explanation texts on "How to Build a Mechanimal Fox." The classroom is buzzing with talk of silver-plated fur and clockwork tails!
This week, we officially began our new unit on Fractions. We have been mastering the "art of the conversion," learning how to navigate between improper fractions and mixed numbers.
In Arithmetic, the children completed their half-termly assessments. These have been sent home; please take a look at these with your child. To support them, you can find solutions and "how-to" guides for the trickiest questions on Dojo.
Reminders for this week:
Friday: Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Shop! If your child wishes to take part, please send them in with money and a named gift bag to carry their treasures home.
When we return, there are a few changes to our usual routine:
Monday (First day back): It’s TTRS Day! All children are invited to dress appropriately (please refer to the parent letter for costume inspiration). Miss Jackson will be on a training course on the first Monday back, and the class will be covered by Mrs Keane.
PE Change: Starting after the holiday, our PE day will move to Wednesday mornings. It's our turn to have the Deanes team!
Welcome: We are delighted to announce that Miss Longhurst will be joining Hazel Class for three weeks as part of her teacher training. Miss Jackson will still be in class, working alongside her. We can’t wait to have her as part of the team!
Get your costumes ready! World Book Day is Thursday 5th March, and we invite all children to dress as their favourite book character. We also have the Usborne Book Fair arriving on Tuesday 3rd March after school. Full details are available on the app. Our Ready, Steady, Read sponsored challenge takes place over the half term break. We would love the children to focus on their reading and taking part in this challenge.
Homework: There are no spellings or homework set for the holiday. The children have worked incredibly hard and deserve a well-earned rest!
Have a wonderful, relaxing half-term break!
