Hello parents!
We're looking forward to catching up with many of you tonight for Parents' Evening and seeing the rest of you on Monday.
A quick reminder regarding appointments:
Tonight: Please note that there are no appointments available to book tonight.
Missing a slot? If you have not yet booked an appointment, please email the school office as soon as possible to arrange a new time.
For our DT lesson this Friday, your child will need to bring in one carrot.
We'll be focusing on important food preparation skills, including chopping, grating, and peeling. Please ensure they bring one in so they can participate fully!
Here's a snapshot of what your child is working on across their subjects this week:
In Maths, we are focusing on adding and subtracting decimals. Students are using bar models to help visually represent and solve word problems, ensuring a deeper understanding of the concepts.
In English, we are honing key grammar and writing skills in preparation for our 'hot task' (a major piece of independent writing): a diary entry.
We're exploring the difference between the active and passive voice.
We're consolidating the correct use of apostrophes for possession (e.g., the boy's bag).
We're incorporating modal verbs (e.g., might, could, must) to add nuance and possibility to their writing.
In Geography, our focus is on global issues as we explore the significant impact of climate change on Bangladesh. We are discussing how rising sea levels and increased natural disasters affect the environment and communities.
This afternoon, in Science, we're becoming junior marine engineers! We are conducting an investigation to explore the concept of water resistance and how different shapes and surfaces affect how easily objects move through water.
Next week in DT, the children will be making their own pizzas! This exciting project will be spread across the week, and we need your help to make it a success. The children are responsible for bringing in their chosen toppings only, as we will be providing the base dough. Please ask your child about the toppings they have chosen. All ingredients must be placed in a clearly labelled container which we will store safely in the school fridges, and for safety, any meat ingredients must be fully cooked before being sent into school.
Dough Ingredients (For your Information)
We are providing the dough base, made from the following recipe:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour (or more whole wheat)
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp fine salt
1 cup warm water
2 Tbsp olive oil
If your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies that mean they cannot have any of the ingredients listed above, please email the school office as soon as possible so that we can work with you to provide suitable alternatives.
