We’ve had a fantastic start to the week, and it’s been wonderful to see the children dive back into their learning with such energy and curiosity. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to and what’s coming up next!
Our Learning This Week
English: The Fight for Equality
Our English lessons have taken a powerful turn as we explore Women’s Rights. To truly understand the concept of injustice, we started the week with an immersion day where the girls were treated differently. The children felt the unfairness firsthand, which sparked some incredible discussions! We are now channelling that passion into writing non-chronological reports about the Suffragettes, researching who these brave individuals were and the impact they had on history.
Maths: Fantastic Fractions
In Maths, we are mastering the world of fractions. The children have been working hard on multiplying fractions, including:
Unit fractions
Proper fractions
Improper fractions
PSHE: Growing and Changing
We have begun our Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) unit. This week, we focused on identifying body parts and discussing the various physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty.
Next Week in PSHE: We will continue our RSE unit by exploring how puberty affects the reproductive organs. We will be learning about the processes of menstruation and sperm production in a supportive and informative environment.
Music Performance: Practise is officially underway! The children are already sounding wonderful. Keep an eye out for letters coming home next week with more details about the upcoming performance.
Year 5 Sleepover & Belchamps Adventure Day: Excitement is building for our upcoming trip!
Forms: Please ensure both permission forms are returned as soon as possible. Without these, children will not be able to participate.
Payments: Please ensure all payments are up to date via Arbor.
Cross Country: A reminder that Cross Country is taking place after school today! If your child is taking part, please ensure you have signed up via the form on the app.
