Our Learning This Week
What a jam-packed, brilliant week of learning we have had! The children have shown immense resilience and focus, working incredibly hard even through the recent heatwave. From mastering geometric concepts to honouring powerful history in English, they have done themselves absolutely proud. Here is a look at what we've been up to and a guide to the busy days ahead.
Maths: Sharp Shapes & Angles
This week, we have been putting our geometry skills to the test. The children have been learning how to accurately measure and draw different angles using protractors. It takes a lot of precision and steady hands to line up that baseline perfectly, but they are smashing it! We have also been exploring the properties of 3D shapes, challenging ourselves to visualise and describe their faces, edges, and vertices.
English: Celebrating the Windrush Generation
In English, we are putting the finishing touches on our biography unit. The children have been working incredibly hard to complete the drafts of their biographies, focusing on the inspiring lives of members of the Windrush Generation. They have shown great maturity in researching these historical journeys and capturing their impact with powerful, detailed writing.
Transition Day: Looking to the Future
Today is an exciting day across the school as the children are meeting their new teachers! This transition time is a fantastic opportunity for them to spend time with their new class teachers, get a feel for the year ahead, and ease any nerves.
Spelling Update: Due to the intense heat this week, the children felt they wouldn't be able to do themselves justice, so we have mutually agreed to move the Spelling Test to Monday.
