What a fantastic week we've had, full of discovery and new learning! In Maths, we continued to hone our skills in rounding, diving deeper into place value to understand how the position of a digit impacts its value when we round numbers. The children did a brilliant job grasping these concepts! English saw the start of our exciting new unit on non-chronological reports. The class got creative, exploring mythical creatures and even designing their own fantastical beast based on a set of mysterious clues. We then worked on becoming feature-finders by dissecting a WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) to identify all the key elements of an excellent report. In Science, we were out of this world! We learned to describe the Sun, Earth, and Moon as approximately spherical bodies and explored the historical context of why some people in the past believed the Earth was flat. Our journey through history continued as we explored the differences in how the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings ruled Britain and how their ongoing conflicts shaped the balance of power across the land. Finally, in Reading, in recognition of Black History Month, we've been captivated by the life and legacy of the iconic boxer and activist, Muhammad Ali. A huge thank you for all the reading you're continuing to do at home—it truly helps your child grow as a reader! Please remember to log your child's reading on Boom Reader so we can celebrate their amazing progress and hard work.
We are still building our Reading Army! 📚 If you are interested in helping out and can dedicate an afternoon to support children's reading at our school, please speak to your child's class teacher or fill out this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexyfQWOudcTRC9YlFL71Rtg3cZpzzSoMhiuzl1LyGlMFVUrw/viewform
