Year 6 Weekly Update (16.1.26)

Dear parents and carers,

A phenomenal week for Year 6, tackling tricky multi-step problems in Maths, drafting our own thoughtful (and thought-provoking) poems in English, beginning to look at proportion and sketching in Art, our first Science lesson on the circulatory system and more!

Spellings

Spellings this week are a mix of Year 5/6 Statutory spellings:

  • attached

  • community

  • desperate

  • excellent

  • hindrance

  • mischievous

  • physical

  • restaurant

  • sufficient

  • yacht

Mock SATs

Next week is Year 6's second round of mock SATs. While the children do not need to prepare in any different way, if they do wish to do some target revision beforehand, the timetable is as follows:

Monday: Spelling paper and Grammar paper

Tuesday: Reading paper

Wednesday: Maths Arithmetic paper and Maths Reasoning paper 1

Thursday: Maths Reasoning paper 2

Please ensure children arrive promptly to school each day to be ready and settled for these important assessments.

Parents Evening - Arbor bookings open now!

As per other Westerings+ communication, dates for our second round of Parent Consultations (for Year 6 only) have been announced, and will take place before the half-term holidays. This meeting is a perfect opportunity for the Year 6 team to share the results and achievements of the second-round mock SATs, and revision targets for your child for the next crucial months of Year 6. Please book your slot via Arbor.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

The Year 6 Team
