Dear parents and carers,
A few notes and reminders ahead of our first full week next week.
PE
PE for Year 6 will be on Thursdays for the next half term. Children should come to school in PE kits as per usual.
Uniform
To ensure the year starts right, a polite reminder about the school expectation of uniform - including all black trainers not being accepted school uniform shoes. Please refer to the school website https://www.liftwesterings.org/uniform if you need any clarification.
Homework
SATs Companion homework, and Spellings will be set next Friday for the first time - as such this week's homework is only home reading, and logging at least 4 reads on Boom Reader via a parent attached account.
Independent Learning Books
Being the oldest and most independent students at the school, Year 6 children have been provided a green 'Independent Learning Book' - a space for them to work out homework maths problems, create revision reminders for themselves, practice their targets etc. It also contains in the front cover all of their needed logins for our various platforms - Times Table Rockstars, SATs Companion, Boom Reader (parent app downloading is also explained here), Spelling Shed and their new Emoji password for school devices. This book should come home and into school every day please as we will often use them in class too.
Home Chromebook Lending
If your child would benefit from having a school chromebook device lent to them for the year, to complete homework and independent revision, please get in touch with the school office who would be happy to facilitate.
Parent Orientation Meeting on Monday
Mr Wade will be hosting the Year 6 parent orientation meeting on Monday from 9:00 - 10:00 for any parents who can attend. Please see separate post for details. The slides will be shared with all of you after the meeting.
Wishing you a pleasant weekend,
The Year 6 Team
