EYFS Messages
Reminder
Tomorrow is our phonics/maths workshop
We have 16 Acorns parents and 25 Conkers parents- If you haven't responded on the goole form, there is still time to let us know- please see previous posts for the link.
🔥 Another exciting week ahead in EYFS! 🚒
Next week, our learning focus will be firefighters and fire safety. We will be finding out all about the important jobs firefighters do, including how they help people in emergencies, the equipment they use, the different vehicles they travel in and how they keep themselves and others safe. We will also be talking about what we can do to keep ourselves safe around fire and who we can ask for help if there is an emergency.
🚒 Monday – Fire Station Trip
We are very excited for our visit to the fire station on Monday! If your child’s class teacher has spoken to you about helping on the trip, please drop your child off as normal and then head to the school office to collect your lanyard. A member of staff will then show you to the Reception classes.
We will be back at school in time for lunch, so there is no change to the usual lunch arrangements.
🔥 Monday afternoon – Fire Safety in The Burrow
In the afternoon, we will be heading into The Burrow to toast marshmallows and learn more about fire safety. We will be talking to the children about how to behave safely around fire and why it is important to follow instructions when we are near a fire.
If your child has any allergies, dietary requirements or other issues with marshmallows, please let your class teacher know so that we can make sure we are aware of this before the activity.
👩‍🚒 Throughout the rest of the week
Our fire-fighting theme will continue across our provision. The children will have lots of opportunities to:
Label the different parts of a fire engine and learn about the equipment firefighters use.
Build and design their own fire engines.
Work together to put out pretend fires.
Explore what firefighters wear and why their protective clothing is important.
Learn about the different ways firefighters help people.
Develop their vocabulary through role play, stories and conversations.
Explore fire safety and emergency situations through play.
📚 Reading Reminder
Please remember to record your child’s reading in their reading record every time they read at home. We will be counting reads on separate days, rather than counting four reads that all take place on the same day. If you are unsure about how this works, please speak to your class teacher.
🎥 Phonics Videos
Please also keep an eye out for the weekly phonics videos we send home. It would be really beneficial for your child to practise the sounds from the videos at home, as this helps to consolidate the learning we are doing in school and supports their confidence with phonics.
We are looking forward to another busy and exciting week of learning! 🚒🔥
