EYFS- Parent Update 🌟
What a fantastic few days we have had!
We are so proud of how beautifully the children have settled into school. They have already shown us some fantastic listening skills and are sitting beautifully on the carpet during our learning times. They are becoming familiar with our routines and are already showing us what superstars they are!
Well done, Reception!
Learning about our families
Next week, we will be focusing on our families and how all families are different. We will be talking about the people who are special to us and celebrating all the different families we have in our school community.
We will also be sharing our Chatterboxes in small groups with an adult. We can't wait to find out a little more about the children's likes, dislikes and the things that are important to them.
Don't worry if you haven't quite finished your Chatterbox yet — you have all week to bring it in.
Please don't forget to include a family photograph that you are happy for us to keep, as we would love to display these in our Home Corner.
Reception Baseline Assessment
Next week, we will also be starting the Reception Baseline Assessment.
There is absolutely nothing for children or parents to worry about. It is simply a short assessment that all children in Reception complete when they start school. It helps us to understand what each child can already do when they begin Reception, so that we can track their progress during their time at school.
The children won't know that they are being formally assessed. It is carried out in a relaxed and informal way, through simple activities and questions with a familiar adult. There is no need to practise or prepare your child for this at home. We just want them to come into school happy, ready to learn and be themselves.
A few reminders
Please name everything! Please make sure all items of clothing are clearly named, including jumpers, coats and shoes. Things can very easily get mixed up when we have lots of little people getting wellies on!
Hatch your monster! Don't forget to hatch your child's monster on ClassDojo. There are still lots of eggs showing on our board! Your child can also design their own monster on the app at home.
PE – Wednesdays- PE will take place every Wednesday. Children can come into school wearing their PE kit and will stay in it for the whole day.
Puddlesuits and wellies-Please remember to bring in your child's puddlesuit and wellies. The children are very excited about getting stuck into the mud kitchen, whatever the weather!
Cover teachers
From time to time, teachers may be out of class for courses, training or planning. On these occasions, we may have a cover teacher in the classroom.

Starting full-time – collection and drop-off times
We undertsnad there has been some conflicting information about collection times, so we would like to clarify the arrangements from tomorrow.
Morning drop-off: Children can come into school between 8:40am and 8:50am through the green gate.
If your child arrives after 8:50am, please take them to the school office, where they will need to be signed in.
Afternoon collection – 3:15pm: Reception collection will now be slightly before the whole-school bell.. This will make it easier for Reception families to leave the site before it becomes busy and will also allow parents who have other children to collect them at 3:20pm.
Conkers: Please collect from the playground at the Conkers classroom door – this is clearly labelled.
Acorns: Please collect from the playground by the yellow gate.
If you are ever going to be late collecting your child, please phone the school office to let us know.
