Our final trip Around the Wonderful World takes us to China, where we will be celebrating Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse.
Throughout the week, the children will be immersed in learning about Chinese New Year traditions and cultural aspects through a range of exciting activities. In maths, we will be comparing quantities using lucky red envelopes.
Our story focus, The Great Race by Emily Hiles, will help the children understand why the Chinese New Year animals are in their traditional order.
The children will also have the opportunity to taste traditional Chinese foods and create bright, bold decorations and accessories, including dragons, fans and Chinese rattle drums, inspired by the symbolic reds and golds of Chinese New Year.
On Friday, children are invited to wear RED or a traditional Chinese outfit (as long as it is suitable for PE). We will then take part in a special Chinese New Year parade around the school, featuring a lucky dragon, traditional Chinese music, and the decorations and accessories the children have created throughout the week.
We would really appreciate any donations of paper plates and tin foil to support our creative activities.
Thank you for your continued support, we are very much looking forward to a fun and memorable week to round out another half term!
