Reminders - Tuesday next week
As part of our Geography fieldwork unit, looking at the culture of Hockley, we will be heading to central locations in Hockley (on foot) to observe and to ask local people about their experiences.
If you would like to come along to help us, please let Mrs Gilder-Coker or Mr Rothwell know. We hope to head out around 11:10am, after break time and to be back around 12:20pm, before lunchtime begins.
Thank you :)
Our learning journey this week...
PE: We had a great time at our Rugby Taster session on Monday!
DT: This week, we began our new unit by learning about levers, pulleys, and gears. The children were able to give fantastic examples of each! The end goal of this unit is to design and build our very own catapults—just like the Romans used.
Maths: We have been exploring negative numbers and how to count backwards from a positive number past zero. We used thermometers, lift levels, and number lines to help us visualise this concept. We have also practised adding and subtracting 1000 from numbers.
PSHE: We have been delving deeper into our new Inner Wings programme. Today, we spoke about our feelings and what it means to celebrate our own superpowers (the things that make us unique and great). The children created a special celebration ritual they will use every time they achieve something they are proud of.
The children would love to challenge you at home to think of what your superpowers are!
English: We have continued to delve deeper into exploring ideas for our narrative, "The Spell That Goes Wrong." This week, we collated all our fantastic ideas from our freeze frames and soundscapes to start making detailed plans in partners.
Times Tables: The children are working so hard on their times table knowledge! We have been focsing on our 6 times tables this week and will be moving on to our 9 times tables next week!
Thank you as always for your continued support!
