Good afternoon everyone! We hope you are enjoying your final day of the Summer and you are feeling ready for your child to enter Year 6 tomorrow. Before their arrival, we would like to share a few pieces of information with you to ensure a superb start to the year.
Your children will have a pencil case, notebook and resources all prepared for them as they come into Year 6 this year, therefore please do not send them in with these items.
By the end of this week, your child will be given logins for the following sites:
Spelling Shed
TTRS
SATS Companion
Boom Reader
It is imperative that they are actively using these apps and websites each week to complete their set homework and to ensure that they have a successful year academically.
While formal set homework will be set in Week 2, we will be having our first weekly spelling test coming this Friday, testing the following spellings:
muscle
prejudice
available
determined
rhyme
identity
accommodate
suggest
competition
existence
Our PE day this half term is a Thursday. Please ensure your child comes into school wearing PE kit on this day which is appropriate for the weather and our uniform policy. We have also attached our uniform policy below to ensure children are making a smart start to the year: https://www.westerings.org/useful-info/academy-uniform
Mr Wade will be running a Parent Orientation meeting on Thursday this week; it would be great to see many parents there to talk you through the expectations that we will have in Year 6.
We look forward to welcoming your child into Year 6 tomorrow!
Mr Wade & Mr Bird
